Student Experience

Are you a student hoping to learn more about life on UAB’s campus and the surrounding Birmingham community? Then you should attend the 2019 Student Involvement & Leadership Spring Involvement Fair on Thursday, Jan. 10. The event lasts from 12-2 p.m. and will take place in multiple areas in the Hill Student Center. Attendance is free.

This year’s Spring Involvement Fair is themed “The Game of University Life.” Registered Student Organizations, campus partners and other members of Birmingham will table throughout the Hill Student Center. Each table will showcase a different organization and offer a new way for students to be a part of their community.

Tables will be arranged by tiles and spread out in the HSC like a game board. Attendees can gain different tile pieces by stopping at tables. Students can redeem these tiles to earn different prizes and enter raffles throughout the event.

Dayla Raths, coordinator of Leadership Development within Student Involvement & Leadership,  details the significance of helping every student explore their place in the UAB community and beyond.

“It is important that a student connects with other UAB community members and campus/local organizations because it enhances the student experience in and out of the classroom,” Raths says. “These connections made by joining an organization or reaching out to faculty/staff members can assist students in all areas of life and can create communities for students to relate to and depend upon. Many students find their best friends, hobbies, passions, and unknown skills within these communities.”

Come meet others in the UAB family and find out how to get involved!
