CRC open house

UAB’s Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) invites all students to celebrate Blazer Welcome! At these events, students will be able to connect with peers and learn how the CRC supports Blazers in improving their relationship with substances.

Every Wednesday this semester starting August 30, the CRC is offering All-Recovery meetings from 4 to 5 p.m. These non-denominational recovery support meetings are open to anyone interested in developing a healthy relationship with substance use. Whether you are already in recovery, want to learn more, or just thinking about making some changes, you are welcome at the CRC.

On Thursday, August 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the CRC will be hosting an event for International Overdose Awareness Day on the first floor of the Hill Student Center. Visit their table to learn more.

From 3 to 6 p.m. at the UAB vs. North Carolina A&T game, the Jefferson County Department of Health will be offering free overdose prevention training to anyone who stops by their tailgate. This could be a great opportunity to join the CRC and other community partners as they round out International Overdose Awareness Day.

On Thursday, September 7, there will be Open Recovery Ally training from 4- 5 p.m. in Suite 314 of the Hill Student Center. There, participants can learn how they can be an ally to students in recovery.

On Monday, September 11, the CRC will be hosting a Popsicles on the Green event from 12 to 2 p.m., so come take a break between classes and enjoy popsicles and other activities.

On Tuesday, September 12, attend the CRC’s open house from 2 to 6 p.m. where Blazers can explore their space and learn about our mission. Enjoy light refreshments as you mix and mingle with the department’s current members and staff!

On Saturday, September 16, the CRC will be at the Birmingham Rally for Recovery Month from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at UAB’s Mini Park. Enjoy time with local agencies and advocates of recovery health right on campus.
