Supporting Students

new-role-comes-to-campus-title-ix-investigatorIt is with great pleasure that UAB welcomes Ms. Lindsey Beechwood as the Title IX Investigator to serve as the University’s primary investigator for cases alleging student misconduct, specifically sexual misconduct, gender-based discrimination, harassment, intimate partner violence, and stalking. Lindsey comes to us from Colorado State University, where she has over five years in Title IX investigative work, student conduct, and conflict resolution. Lindsey is a trained and certified Title IX Investigator, and we are SO very pleased to welcome her to the Student Affairs and SARC team!

Lindsey will investigate incidents; coordinate interim measures and accommodations; ensure a fair, timely, and well-documented investigative process; maintain accurate and thorough records; assist with developing and disseminating educational materials and conduct outreach and training; participate in hearing panel process as needed; provide resource referrals to students involved in investigations; cultivate relationships and collaborate with a variety of campus partners; and assist with Title IX and Clery Act compliance efforts. Lindsey will serve as an ambassador for the necessary societal changes that would, in an ideal world, make her role obsolete. She will strive to not only to provide a safe environment for victims of interpersonal violence and sexual misconduct to step forward, but to also provide responding parties the same amount respect and lack of judgment to share their experience as well.
