The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is an autonomous campus of The University of Alabama System dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and service. UAH is a key participant in one of the nation's major international centers for advanced technological research and utilizes its position in this environment to provide unique opportunities and creative programs for students, faculty and the community.

The University of Alabama in Huntsville is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.

U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT ranks UAH among the 150 best national doctoral universities – a distinction shared by only seven percent of the more than 2,000 four-year colleges in America.             
                                                                              
UAH is located in Huntsville, Alabama, which is in the north central section of the state. There are thirty-one major buildings located on 376 acres in Cummings Research Park and adjacent to the Space and Rocket Center, Redstone Arsenal and Marshall Space Flight Center.


UAH is committed to maintaining a diverse academic community of the highest quality and to providing an environment that facilitates intellectual, cultural, personal and professional growth. UAH fosters leadership, creative and critical thinking, clear communication, a respect for knowledge and the pursuit of truth and an engagement in the challenge and pleasure of a lifetime of learning. UAH, through its graduates and its programs, contributes to economic advancement, health care, cultural enrichment and the quality of life of the region, state and nation.

Now serving over 7,036 students, UAH first offered extension courses in 1950 for The University of Alabama and became an autonomous campus in 1969.  Of the total enrollment, 48 percent are female and 52 percent are male. UAH students come from 42 states in the U.S. and from 83 foreign countries.  There are 271 full-time faculty members, 93 percent of whom hold a terminal degree in their field.

UAH Offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees in the College of Administrative Science, the College of Engineering, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Science, the College of Nursing and the School of Graduate Studies.  

UAH offers 59 degree-granting programs that meet the highest standards of excellence, including 29 bachelor's degree programs, 18 Masters' degree programs and 12 Ph.D. programs.
