ALSAMP Scholars are a select group of students known for their excellence in academic coursework, maintaining a 3.0 or higher GPA and for their pursuit of either graduate studies or a challenging career in the scientific field.
Scholars participate weekly in ALSAMP Drop-In Center activities related to their academic major, including research, studying, tutoring, mentoring and preparing for the GRE.
Scholars often serve as facilitators and assist at all ALSAMP/AGEP campus workshops and conferences.
Scholars have the opportunity to be selected to participate in a research experience in their junior or senior year.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR SCHOLARS
Declare a STEM major.
Submit an application.
Submit an essay describing career goal(s) and reasons for selecting that career.
Submit three letters of recommendation from high school science/math teachers.
Have at least three years of science courses in high school.
Have a composite ACT score of 20 or above and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
