Our
collection supports the faculty and students of the department
with over 85,000 slides. Included in the collection are
slides of painting, architecture, sculpture, manuscripts,
graphic arts, photography and minor(decorative) arts. Our
slides cover Asian, Pre-history, Greek, Roman, Byzantine,
Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque and Modern. Also we have
some unique sections such as documentary materials, local
architecture, works from the Birmingham Museum of Art, and
slides taken by faculty, staff and students of art and architecture
from their extensive travels. Our faculty and students use
over 15,000 slides each year. The staff produces about 1500
new slides each year and is currently working on a computerized
database of our collection.
