University Relations provides headshot photography at no charge, based on availability.

  • All headshots are by appointment only.
  • University Relations will pick one horizontal and one vertical photo, apply any touch-ups if necessary and send you the photography via the UAB Image Gallery. You will not receive multiple photos for pre-approval.
  • University Relations does not shoot private parties, luncheons, award ceremonies or group photos.
  • University wide priorities that limit the availability of the photographer, while regrettable, do occur and sometimes with little notice.
  • If the photographer is unavailable, we have university-approved freelance photographers and are happy to share a list of these vendors with you.

    • Photos are taken on Tuesdays between 9am and 11am at the photographer’s studio in the Administration Building, 701 20th St S. Suite 354.
    • You must make an appointment
    • Headshots at this location are not flexible and must be taken in the studio
    • These photos are taken with professional lighting in front of a standard background
    • What to wear:
      • Avoid wearing patterns
      • Simple colors are best
      • If you wear a white coat, make sure it is pressed and bring to shoot
      • Avoid wearing seasonal apparel
      • Avoid wearing clothing with logos

    • Photos are taken Thursdays 9-10:30 a.m. on the 3rd floor of the Hill Student Center, 1400 University Boulevard
    • You must make an appointment
    • The photographer uses natural light. A rainy or cloudy day may not be suitable for this type of photo
