Business cards come in two formats. Most units use a standard card, and the UAB Health System and its components use a specialized variation. 1. Standard cards include the university monogram and wordmark. Specialized cards substitute "Health System" or "Hospital." Both formats include printing options for the logo:
Both formats are printed on premium card stock.
2. For standard cards, the line directly below the university monogram and wordmark lists the official name of:
Specialized cards should list UAB Hospital, UAB Kirklin Clinic, UAB Health Centers, or the UAB Eye Foundation Hospital. All names should be official names (Department of Philosophy, NOT Philosophy Department). If a long line must be broken, the first line should be longer than the second.
3. Academic and medical-degree abbreviations should follow names. To maintain a consistent appearance and to make maximum use of space, periods are not used in abbreviations after names. Include only the highest degree awarded (for example, a person with a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. would have only Ph.D. listed). If more than one terminal degree is held, only those fitting in the space available may be included. No titles (Dr., Professor, Ms.) should precede names. Only official job titles can be listed on the second line. If listing more than one job title, use shortened forms (for example: V.P., Public Relations and Marketing).
4. The first line of the address bar includes the official name of a major department within the school, foundation, center, office, or facility listed beneath the university monogram and wordmark.
5. The second line is optional and lists the official name of a unit or division within the unit on the first line.
6. The correct physical address for each unit is supplied by the UAB Print Plant and must follow this format: Room Number and Building Name Street Number and Street Name Phone Number (in format 205.934.1234) Fax Number (designated by "Fax:")
7. Directly to the right of the address bar is space for optional e-mail and Web addresses. You can create shortened aliases for long e-mail addresses through the UAB Electronic Phonebook (www.uab.edu/phonebook) and for long Web-site addresses through UAB Web Communications.
8. The mailing address follows U.S. Postal Service guidelines, which require uppercase letters and no punctuation. The UAB campus has been assigned three mailing addresses, and the UAB Print Plant will determine yours when you order business cards. |
