Chris Clifford is the Associate Vice President for Business Services for the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), an internationally renowned research university and academic medical center. UAB is the state of Alabama's largest employer with 23,000 employees and 18,000 graduate and undergraduate students. Business Services includes The UAB Educational Foundation and 19 business service units that support UAB, including Real Estate Operations, Parking and Transportation Services, Physical Security, Bartow Arena Operations, and Print & Mail Services.
Clifford came to UAB after serving as chief financial officer for West Virginia University at Parkersburg. Prior to that, he was senior associate vice president for finance at Ohio University and director of budget and finance at Mississippi State University.
Before starting his career in higher education, Clifford worked for 10 years in progressively responsible finance positions with ExxonMobil, including a three-year international assignment as the finance manager for ExxonMobil in Hong Kong. Clifford began his career as a financial audit professional at Ernst & Young in New York.
Clifford received his undergraduate degree in accounting from Mississippi State University and his MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He is also a certified public accountant.
