Christine A. Curcio, Ph.D.--Human retina: Aging and age-related macular degeneration

Research Description:

We are testing the hypothesis that lipid deposition in Bruch's membrane is a fundamental event in early age-related macular degeneration. We have access to unique sources of donor eyes and surgical specimens. Our techniques include histopathology, morphometry, imunocytochemistry, lipid histochemistry, and electron microscopy.
