Ada Elgavish, Ph.D.-Cell-extracellular matrix interactions in urogenital epithelium

Research Description:

One objective of our studies is to explore mechanisms by which bacterial products and inflammatory cytokines dysregulate expression and cellular distribution of integrins, leading to pathogenesis in the urinary bladder epithelium. A second objective is to investigate altered mechanisms of epithelial adhesion that may underlie the discrepancy between the relatively slow growth of primary prostate tumors as compared to rapid growth in secondary tumors metastasizing to bone.
