Richard Mayne, D. Phil.--Structural Components of Extracellular Matrix

Research Description:

My laboratory is studying the development, structure and pathophysiology of a variety of mesenchymal tissues including cartilage, skeletal and cardiac muscle. We are also interested in the development of the eye and its associated connective tissues including the cornea and vitreous humor. At present, we are investigating the mechanism of cell attachment of skeletal and cardiac muscle to the surrounding connective tissue, the structural organization of cartilage matrix, and the involvement of the vitreous in retinal detachment.
