Dr. Rodén's research is concerned with the biosynthesis of the polysaccharide components of mammalian proteoglycans and is presently focused on the isolation and characterization of enzymes involved in the formation of heparin. Recent work includes the purification of the uronic acid 5-epimerase catalyzing the conversion of glucuronic acid to iduronic acid in the course of heparin synthesis.
