Paul W. Sanders, M.D. -- TGF-beta in Health and Disease States

Research Description:

Our laboratory has an interest in the pathogenesis of monoclonal light chain-related glomerulopathy. We have found that certain light chains stimulate mesangial cells in culture to produce TGF-beta, which in turn stimulates production of extracellular matrix proteins. These observations form the basis of the glomerulosclerosis in this disease.
