APS LogoAlpha Phi Sigma, founded in 1942 on the campus of Washington State University, is the only criminal justice honor society accredited by the Association of College Honors Societies. Traditionally a national organization serving United States universities, recent expansion into Canadian universities now distinguishes Alpha Phi Sigma as an international honor society.

There are several requirements for becoming a member of Alpha Phi Sigma. The student:

  • must be a declared criminal justice major or minor;
  • must have completed a minimum of 12 hours of criminal justice courses;
  • must have a GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale in all criminal justice courses completed and a cumulative GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale for all completed university courses; and
  • must be in the top 35% of his or her class.

The group also sponsors various scholarships for undergraduate students.
