I thoroughly enjoyed my time at UAB Math Department, which was a home away from home half way across the planet.

I truly believe that the Math department at UAB provides an environment to excel while keeping things stress-free. At the time of my graduation, the country was in the midst of one of the worst economic crisis and yet I had offers from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and my present company. This would not have been possible without the constant encouragement and support of my mentor Dr. Knowles and the department faculty.

My present work involves providing the best possible subsurface images of the earth to our oil and gas industry clients. I have had to learn the in-house software, use clusters that rival some of the fastest super computers, and present results to the clients. Thanks to the training at the Math Department it has been a smooth sail!

Last and most importantly, I found my life partner at UAB! I feel truly lucky to have been a student of UAB’s Math Department.
