How do I apply for the College of Arts and Sciences scholarships?

What are the requirements and eligibility for the scholarships?

  • Applicants must be admitted students in the College of Arts and Sciences
  • Applicants must have at least a 3.0 overall GPA and demonstrated solid academic standing and leadership ability and potential as demonstrated through extracurricular activities, job-related performance, or similar experiences may be considered in awarding these scholarships
  • Freshman Applicants are not required to submit a reference letter from a UAB faculty member; instead request another letter from a high school teacher/counselor or employer is optional
  • Liberal Arts Majors/Health Related Programs: Majors that want to apply for scholarships in the College of Arts of Sciences must change their major to a Collge of Arts and Sciences major.  Please contact the UAB Office of Undergraduate Admissions - This email address is being protected from spambots. What scholarships are available?

  • We have over 50 scholarships available for undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences.  You can view these scholarships online at www.uab.edu/casscholarships

Do I fill out separate applications for each scholarship?

  • Please submit only one scholarship application to be considered for the College of Arts and Sciences college-wide and some Departmental awards and scholarships.
  • However, additional documentation and supporting documents may be needed for Departmental scholarships.  Please contact your department for additional information.

What is the application deadline?

  • Applications and all supporting documents must be submitted by February 15, 2013  5:00 p.m.

How and when will I be notified if I get a scholarship?

  • Scholarship applicants will be notified of the Scholarship Committee’s decision by April 30, 2013

When and how will I get my scholarship money?

  • Scholarship awards will go toward the recipient’s tuition and fees (through the UAB Office of Financial Aid) for terms in which he or she is enrolled as a student in the College of Arts and Sciences.  Any scholarship funds in excess of the amount required for tuition and fees will be disbursed to the student for books, supplies, or school-related expenses when the terms of the particular scholarship allow this.
