Iso_Left__Front_PolarCBSE Engineering was recently awarded a contract through NASA Johnson Space Center Crew and Thermal Systems Division (CTSD) to design, develop, test, and evaluate a powered, single Middeck Locker equivalent size freezer, called Polar.

The primary purpose of Polar is to provide a -80 Degrees Celsius cryogenic freezing and storage unit for a broad range of Science on board the Intemational Space Station (ISS) and during transit to and from the ISS. Polar builds on experience with previous thermal carriers to provide greater thermal performance.  Accommodating samples of various dimensions and shapes will provide NASA with the capability to satisfy the need of future science experiments conducted aboard the ISS.
