The Center for Structural Biology includes a multidisciplinary group of researchers all focused on the structure/function relationships for biomolecules involved in fundamental processes, the elucidation of mechanisms behind infectious and chronic diseases and the pursuit of structural information to support the development of novel pharmaceuticals.

The faculty of the CSB are part of the larger Graduate Biomedical Sciences (GBS) and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) community at UAB which encompasses over 420 graduate students and 350 faculty. Our faculty participate in multiple interdisciplinary thematic programs that integrate more than 25 departments and 20 research centers in the Schools of Medicine, Optometry, Dentistry, Engineering, Health Professions and the College of Arts and Sciences as well as regional research centers such as the Southern Research Institute and the Hudson Alpha Institute for Research.

Faculty in each of these areas are dedicated to training students to become critical, independent thinkers who design and execute cutting edge experiments that answer critical biomedical questions in biomedical science. Our students regularly publish papers in the highest quality, peer-reviewed journals and successfully compete for postdoctoral positions at other premier academic institutions and companies around the world. The close interactions between basic and clinical scientists in the program and throughout the UAB Medical Center provides unique opportunities to develop new therapies for inherited and acquired human disorders.  You can access each faculty member's current research via the list provided on the left hand side of this page.
