Last year, BioHorizons, a Birmingham–based implant company, made a significant gift to the School of Dentistry. A ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 31 showcased the result of that gift: the BioHorizons Clinical Research Facility.
The newly renovated sixth-floor clinic space houses training in four-handed dentistry, continuing education, special clinics, and research activities. The multiuse facility features the latest dental equipment for restorative, implant, and cosmetic dentistry. Students who use the facility gain experience in a private-practice environment using a wide variety of equipment. It also enables investigators from several departments to conduct clinical trials.
BioHorizons, a longtime supporter of UAB and the School of Dentistry, is the sixth-largest dental implant company in the United States, with seven foreign subsidiaries and sales in more than 35 countries.
