Patrons Generously Support UAB’s Alys Robinson Stephens Performing Arts Center

Grammy Award-winning pop group The Pointer Sisters were the stars of the annual VIVA Health Starlight Gala benefiting UAB’s Alys Robinson Stephens Performing Arts Center (ASC) on April 1. “When we announced The Pointer Sisters date, patrons were so enthusiastic that it became clear to us that this show should be our gala,” says Shirley Salloway Kahn, Ph.D., vice president for development, alumni, and external relations. The VIVA Health Starlight Gala is Birmingham’s premier black-tie event. The evening benefits the programs and education initiatives of the ASC. Celebrating diversity and all genres of the performing arts, past performers have included Natalie Cole, Diana Krall, Bobby McFerrin, Willie Nelson, Mandy Patinkin, Itzhak Perlman, Queen Latifah, Smokey Robinson, and Frederica Von Stade.
