More than 50 classic and collectible cars at Old Car Heaven in downtown Birmingham helped set the stage for Fins, Fenders, and Fun, an event benefiting the UAB Liver Center last spring. Along with the vintage vehicles, the event transported 200 guests back in time with live music, a deejay, and diner-themed food to benefit the center’s Viral Hepatitis Support Fund.

According to Joseph Bloomer, M.D., director of the center, the benefit raised more than $120,000. “Proceeds from this great event will allow the center to continue expansion of liver disease education, patient care, and clinical research programs,” he says. “We are very appreciative of the generosity of our sponsors and community patrons for their continued support, which significantly impacts improvements in the health and wellness of thousands of Alabamians who have liver disease.”
