Belles & Whistles Luncheon Benefits UAB Athletics

The second annual Belles & Whistles luncheon, held on September 10, 2009, at The Club, featured talks by UAB Athletic Director Brian Mackin and event co-chairs Sally Mackin and Virginia Jones. The luncheon, which raised funds and awareness for women’s athletic scholarships, was emceed by Keisa Sharpe, media relations representative/spokesperson for Alabama Power Company.

Guest speakers included Sandy Sharp, award-winning sports broadcaster and certified image consultant, and Patti Schroder Hilyer, a local general pediatrician and former Academic All-American in UAB volleyball, 1985 to 1986.

Corporate sponsors of the event were Alabama Power Company, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, and VIVA Health. Other sponsors included Gretchen Cloud, Tamilya Davis, Marsha Hire, and Phyllis Klock.
