They are donated to Magic City Harvest, a local Birmingham Food Bank. During Thanksgiving and Christmas break- when you get to go home and enjoy a hot homecooked meal by Mom, UAB donates any parishable food items to Magic City Harvest as well. Since August, UAB has been particiating in the hot food recovery program with Magic City Harvest. Any hot food that is not eaten from dinner at the commons is bagged and frozen. Magic City Harvest picks up the food three times per week and distributes it to local shelters. For more information check out For Your Community - part of Sodexo's Better Tomorrow Plan. |
