UAB Children's Creative Learning Center - Serving children from all over the Birmingham area, the enrichment program seeks to encourage children to select their daily plan of study, work at their own pace, and enhance their academic development. Whether it is a science experiment with everyday food items or writing and publishing a newspaper, children discover how exciting learning can be.
Projects: Alabama Hands-on Activity Science Program (ALAHASP) - A science outreach program designed for elementary teachers to receive training in the use of kit-based science modules in the elementary classroom.
English Language and Culture Institute (ELCI) - Offers a range of English language training courses to students, area residents, business people, local corporations, and international visitors.
English as a Second Language (EESL) - Promotes Best Practices for enhancing the language acquisition and academic achievement of English language learners.
MidSouth Reading & Writing Institute - A collection of various seminars focused in support of teachers.
National Board Certification Seminar Program - Prepares candidates for the certification process and to support them as they complete the process. Seminar topics include learning theory, cooperative learning, alternative assessment, time management, National Board Standards analysis, portfolio entries preparation, and videotaping tips.
Red Mountain Writing Project - Promotes teacher leadership and empowerment through dialogue, confidence building, and application of best practice in the teaching of writing.
Urban Teacher Enhancement - A teacher preparation program designed for those who do not already hold teaching certificates but are interested in teaching careers in Birmingham City Schools. UTEP is available at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Young Authors' Conference - Series of workshops hosted by noted authors for children aspiring to have their work published.
Partnerships: Alabama Teacher Training and Induction Network (ATTAIN) - The vision of the Alabama Teacher Training and Induction Network is to provide leadership for teacher development and programs, policies, and best practices to retain well qualified teachers in Alabama and the United States. We will develop teacher leaders for the classroom, the state and the nation including the development of teachers certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Our partnership with teachers, other educators and organizations will promote the success of teachers for the sole purpose of increased student achievement.
EdGrid - Both the name for the infrastructure technologies and the name for the consortium of the NCSA and its partner organizations called the EOT-PACI (Education, Outreach, and Training - Partnerships for Advanced Computational Infrastructure).
