UAB offers an undergraduate degree that prepares candidates to earn teacher certification at the secondary school level in core academic areas: mathematics, English language arts, social sciences, and science.

At UAB, students can earn a bachelor's degree in high school education and qualify for Class B teacher certification in the teaching fields and grade levels listed below.  Although this degree is classified as high school education, the corresponding certification encompasses a wider range. In most of these teaching fields, certification is issued for secondary school grade levels (6-12). In math, certification is issued for either secondary (6-12) or middle school (4-8).
