UAB School of Education is a big winner in the international field of blindness! Print E-mail

The International Council for Exceptional Children Division on Visual Impairments has announced the
2012 International awards to be presented in Denver, April 2012.  UAB has three awardees!

Carol Allison –The Distinguished Service Award, Carol is faculty in the UAB School of Education where she teaches in the Program for Visual Impairments and is Coordinator of the UAB Alabama Deafblind Project. She is also the Chair of the Alabama and International Helen Keller Art Shows.

c_white Cristal White Smith - The Teacher of the Year Award, Cristal is a UAB graduate from Dothan, AL. she works with school districts in the Alabama Wiregrass area as an itinerant vision teacher.  She is also an Orientation & Mobility Specialist and supervises student teachers. Cristal was awarded the School of Education Special Education Alumni of the Year last year.
t_reynolds Trenisha Reynolds - The Virginia M. Sowell Student of the Year Award, Trenisha is a SOE graduate student in Visual Impairments Special Education.   She is currently completing her practicum in visual impairments and starting Orientation & Mobility course work to become nationally certified.
Each award winner will be honored at the International Council for Exceptional Children Convention and Expo, April 12-14th in Denver, Colorado.  Please join in celebrating each of the award winner’s service and accomplishments.  We are honored that an organization will award so many persons from one institution.
