The University of Alabama
at Birmingham
Emergency Medicine Residency
Program Application Process
Thank you for your interest in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Emergency Medicine Residency. The training program is a fully accreditated PGY 1-3 format program with a current total of 30 residents. We are currently recruiting for eight PGY-1 positions entering in July 2009. All of our positions will be filled through the NRMP spring match in March 2009.
Fourth year medical students interested in a career in Emergency Medicine will fill the majority of our PGY-1 positions. The remainder of our positions will be filled with applicants who have completed one or more years of training in an accredited residency program in the U.S. or Canada. This allows us to recruit a residency class with diverse backgrounds and interests.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham Emergency Medicine Program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and we will not accept paper application materials. You may only apply to the UAB Emergency Medicine Program via ERAS. Information on ERAS is available at http://www.aamc.org/eras. Fourth year medical students should contact their medical school Dean's office for more information. If you are not currently a fourth year U.S. medical student then contact the organizations below for more information.
