The 23rd Annual Brent Newman Memorial Egg Drop Contest Sponsored by the UAB Student Chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Each year, the UAB student chapter of ASME organizes and invites elementary, middle, and high school students to participate in the Brent Newman Memorial Egg Drop Contest. The purpose of the event is to encourage mechanical engineering thought and design and provide the opportunity for college students to interact with the community. The goal of the contest is to design an apparatus which will protect a raw egg from breaking when dropped from the roof of the Business-Engineering Complex (three stories). Entries are judged on engineering thought/creativity, mass of the apparatus, and the ease with which the egg is loaded into the apparatus.
