"As a member of the UAB extended IT community I have been aware of the IEM program since its beginning. As each summer approached, I would consider biting the bullet and applying to the IEM program and would continually come up with an excuse not to commit."
"In March 2008, I received the gift of life by way of a kidney transplant. This was after two years of failing health. As I spent two months recovering from the transplant surgery, I had lots of time to think about the direction I needed to take my career. Having been highly technical and specialized for over a decade, I knew I needed a new perspective. I decided NOW was the time to commit to IEM. I used this 'free' time I had to apply to the IEM program. In August 2008, just a mere 5 months after the transplant surgery, I started IEM and I was on the path to gaining a new perspective."
"My time spent in the IEM program provided me with a career-altering viewpoint and a confidence boost. I am certain that my IEM experience opened the door that led to my recent promotion."
