Dr. Ossama Ramadan, a UAB alumnus and Postdoctoral Fellow at the UAB Transportation Engineering and Development Laboratory (TREND Lab), has been selected as the 2018 UAB Most Esteemed Postdoc.

This award is provided by the UAB Graduate School and the Office of Postdoctoral Education to the postdoctoral fellow/trainee with an impressive number of peer reviewed publications, conference presentations, posters, and awards. The award was presented by Dr. Lisa Schwiebert, Senior Associate Dean for Postdoctoral Education, on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the 2018 UAB Postdoctoral Appreciation Luncheon and Awards Ceremony.

This award adds to Dr. Ramadan’s impressive record at UAB that includes selection as the 2014 Graduate Student of the Year in Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering; the 2015 UAB International Student Academic Excellence Awardee; and the 2016 UAB Excellent Peer Awardee. “These recognitions, along with awards for a technical paper and a poster received in 2017 and 2016 respectively, are a demonstration of an outstanding scholarly record that clearly distinguishes him among his peers”, says Dr. Virginia Sisiopiku, his postdoctoral mentor.

To date, Dr. Ramadan’s research at UAB TREND Lab has resulted in 12 peer reviewed publications and 18 conference presentations. Dr. Ramadan’s record is complemented by a full set of professional credentials including registration as a Professional Engineer (PE); certification as an Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP); and certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP). He also serves as a panelist for the National Defense Education Program and a reviewer for flagship Transportation Engineering journals like the ASCE Journal of Transportation Engineering, Part A: Systems and the Transportation Research Record: The Journal of the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies.
