Cassandra M. Ellis (Ph.D., Columbia, 1998) specializes in modern American literature, African American literature, and film. She has additional research interests in critical theory, gender studies, and popular culture. Her article on The Devil Finds Work appears in Things Not Seen: New Essays on James Baldwin (Temple UP, 2000). A native Cape Codder, she now lives in Birmingham with her husband, daughter, and two cats.
