|
The UAB Minor in Literature offers students an exciting and practical way to make the most of their college learning experience and broaden the scope of their career preparation. The minor in English is designed for students who are majoring in any field of study but who also wish to continue their studies of literature and language at the college level. Courses in the minor help students hone their writing, critical thinking, primary and secondary research, and text analysis skills as they take advanced courses in literature, linguistics, professional writing, and/or creative writing. Students taking degrees in pre-law, business, education, biology/pre-med, and engineering may find the minor in English particularly valuable as they enter professions where excellent communications and writing skills are important. Students planning to enter graduate school will also find the minor in English valuable, for it offers a chance to learn skills important to primary research in the community and secondary research in libraries and databases. The minor in English offers returning students the opportunity to read classic texts in world literatures and reconnect with the language of literature and creative writing.
