LSAMP Hosts Graduate School Fair

Hosted by The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) the ALSAMP Graduate School Fair is a one day recruiting event open to ALSAMP undergraduate scholars majoring in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) from universities and Historically Black Colleges in Alabama. Students have the opportunity to visit with graduate school representatives, hear presentations from graduate program officers and receive assistance in the decision-making process about attending graduate school. Lunch will be provided.

The ALSAMP Bridge Program, which began in 1992, was the first such program in the nation and since that time, other universities have replicated the program which is considered a model by NSF. Moreover, UAB was one of the first universities in the country to receive an Alliance for Minority Participation Award from NSF and has received continuous funding for 22 years, in excess of $30,000,000, for the LSAMP and other minority programs.
The ALSAMP Summer Bridge Program is a seven-week residential academic program supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) as one component of the state-wide ALSAMP Project headquartered at UAB. The program is designed to provide minority students who
