Genetics and Race
BiDil is the first FDA approved drug for use in a specific ethnic group. Since gaining FDA, scientists are looking for other genetic explanations for differences in disease between varying ethnic groups. In this section we outline issues within race-based medicine. Is there a genetic basis for race? What is the goal of race-based medicine? What are the moral and cultural issues involved in race-based medicine within minority communities? We provide best practices for dealing with minority communities in the pursuit of race-based medicine.
