Biography

 

Dr. Kimble was born in Lindsborg, Kansas, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Sterling College, Sterling, Kansas, in 1967. In 1971 he received the degree Doctor of Medicine from the University of Colorado. He served an internship at U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego, and served two years as a general medical officer in the U.S. Navy. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Colorado Medical Center in 1978, and took additional training in medical retina at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1984.

Dr. Kimble has been a member of the UAB Department of Ophthalmology since 1985, and currently serves as Associate Professor of Ophthalmology. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a member and former director of the Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Kimble is a member of the Jefferson County Medical Society, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and the American Medical Association.
