for a Birmingham businessman, philanthropist, and benefactor
to the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital, the John E. Meyer
Library has supported the clinical care, educational, research
and administrative functions of both the Eye Foundation Hospital
and the UAB Department of Ophthalmology since 1977.
Located in Room H-13 the Meyer Library’s collection
emphasizes clinical ophthalmology with supporting holdings
in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery, basic sciences,
general medicine, and a historical section.
Holdings comprise over 4000 monographs, bound journals, videotapes
and audiotapes, CDs and DVDs, and approximately 25 current
journal subscriptions.

materials include over 10 years of Audio Digest,
on cassette and CD, as well as Video Journal of Ophthalmology
(VHS and DVD), plus a number of CD-ROM-based standard ophthalmology
texts and atlases are also available.
A conference room is available for lectures and meetings,
including PowerPoint presentations, and computer terminals
(with Internet access) are available for patron use, linked
to the entire UAB system.
Library hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30am to 4pm
