Jessical Badio (B.A., French major, 1987) teaches French and English at Ramsey High School. She is very busy taking care of her two beautiful children, Thalia and Stanley.

Courtney Barnes (B.A., French major, 2005) works for the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, and takes care of her beautiful little boy Neil.

Patton Barrett (B.A., French major, 1999; M. Ed. 2001) was the first UAB student to ever be selected by the French government to work as an assistante d'anglais. She is now teaching French and English at Oak Mountain High School.

Jeremy Bearden (B.A., French minor, English major, 1997) finished a Master's degree in English and works at UAB as Director of Compliance in the Athletic Director's Office. He and his wife, who also works at UAB, are the proud and happy parents of a little girl, Emma.

Brandi Bonner Cooke (B.A., French major, 1998; MD, 2004) finished medical school at UAB. She completed her residency program in psychiatry and is now employed at the Birmingham VA Hospital.

Jeanne d’Arc Boohaker (B.A., French major and High School Education, 2005) is teaching English as a Second Language at Berry Middle School in Hoover, and is currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Education.

Patricia Boswell (B.A., French major, 1992) retired from UAB, where she was a Registered Nurse. She and Baxley now alternate and spend their time in New Orleans, Montana, and Birmingham. They enjoy jogging, skiing, reading, and travelling. Pat has recently picked up reading her Molière plays again. Before Hurricane Katrina, she was helping to teach French in a school of underprivileged children in New Orleans.

Suzanne Brezovich(B.A.., French major, 2002) is an environmental activist.

Katie Heck Collins (M. Ed., French High School Education, 2005) teaches French at Thompson High School in Alabaster.

Sabrina Comer(B.A., French and Linguistics major, 1994) graduated from Cumberland Law School, here in Birmingham. She is currently practicing labor law in Montgomery.

Elise Connett(B.A., French major, 1998) lives in New York City.

Ashley Copeland(M. Ed., 2001) is working in real estate.

Melissa Copeland(M.Ed., French High School Education, 2002) is teaching French in a High School in Montgomery, Alabama.

Melissa Dameron Vines(B.A., French major, 1994; M. Ed., 1996) is back in town from Florida where she had moved for two years with Adam Vines, her husband.

Brandon Darby(M.A., French High School Education, 2003) is teaching at Ramsey High School in Birmingham.

Robert Delgado(B.A., French major, 1997) just returned from serving with American forces in Quatar. Hewill soon finish the UAB School of EngineeringMaster’s degree he was pursuing. He looks forward to speaking French whenever he can and comes to the French Table regularly. His wife and him have a son, Alexander.

Margaret Dumas (M. Ed., 2004) is now working for PLATO Learning, a company that sells software to schools.

Anne Dumoulin(B.A., Education, French) teaches French at Mountain Brook High School. She takes students to France regularly and is involved in French immersion week-ends for high school students. Right now Anne is also serving as President of the Alabama Chapter of the American Association of French Teachers.

Chris Eubanks(B.A., French major, 1995; M. Ed., 1998) currently lives in Mississippi, where his wife is getting a Ph.D. in Psychology. He teaches French and theatre at George County High School in Lucedale, MS.

Christine George(M. Ed., 1993) is currently teaching French (I and II Pre-IB, III IB, IV AB/IB) at the Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School.  She also teaches a preparatory course for SAT et ACT. Chris is very busy with professional commitments and organizations. She also works very hard at motivating her students to go to Québec or France for extended periods of time.

Adriana Gaffga(B.A. French major, 2000) lives in Atlanta with Niko, her M.D. husband who works for the CDC, and their two small children. We miss them, and hope they will one day come back to Alabama.

Jade Graham(B.A., French major, 2000) worked as an assistante d'anglais in Sens, France, when she graduated from UAB. We would like to hear from her!

Sarah Hansen(B.A., French major, 1997) stopped teaching and directing an ESL program for a church, and is now a homemaker in Birmingham.

Jennifer Harris Ellison (B.A., French major, 1998) is Director of Development for the UAB Schools of Arts and Humanities, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. She and her husband, Todd, live in Alabaster. They are the proud parents of a baby boy, Liam. 

Carol Pointer Hinson(M. Ed., 2000) is back in Birmingham. She has momentarily stopped teaching to take care of her son.

Zara Key (B.A., French major, 2005) lives and works in New York City where she is getting experience in the retail industry before opening her own French fashion and design store down on a coast in the next few years.

Madeline Krontiras (B.A. French and International Studies, 2006) will enter law school in 2007. She currently works for a law firm.

Kira Martin Fonbah (B.A., French and International Studies, 2001; MD., 2006) is now an MD working as a Resident in Psychiatry at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. She got married in June 2005.

Deven Mayes(B.A., French major, 2004; M. Ed., 2006) is currently teaching at Shades Valley High School in the school’s special education program. She’ll also be teaching French there in the spring of 2007.

Chuleekorn Mitraman(B.A., French and Political Science major, 2001) got married and moved back to Thailand. We miss her good spirits and eternal smile.

Marc Navez (B.A., French and High School Education, 2006) is teaching English as a Second Language at Valley Elementary School in Pelham. He is also enrolled at the UAB School of Education for a Master’s degree in ESL.

Christie Oden(B.A., French major, 2000 [11 years after she started!!]; Anthropology minor) is a Program Coordinator at UAB's Division of Preventive Med and working on research studies. She tries to spend all of her vacation in France.

Keith Ray(B.A., French major, 1999). Outside his wonderful job in the health insurance industry, Keith's hobbies are mostly concerned with playing the cello, running marathons, talking to his dogs in French, home studying Spanish, and preparing gourmet meals (usually of French origin). Keith has recently joined the Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra.

Bill Royal(B.A., French minor, International Studies Major, 1996) works for Vineyard Brands in Birmingham. He speaks French on the job everyday, translates documents, and makes trips to visit Burgundy proprietors and European wine makers. Bill is very active with the Loft Owners Association downtown.

Kristi Shaw(B.A. French major, 1998) just received her Ph.D. in French from the University of Alabama. She is also the Secretary of the Alliance Française of Birmingham, and currently teaches part-time at the UAB and Miles College.

Gerald Stephens (quasi French major, 1999-2001) is back from Africa and pastoring a Prestbyterian Church in the south of Birmingham. He still loves anything and everything French.

Kim Thomas(B.A., French major, 1999) is the Director of the Foreign Language Laboratory at Birmingham Southern College. Kim is Director of Communications for the Alliance Française of Birmingham, and teaches an introductory French class. She helps organize Alliance trips. She enjoys traveling to Europe as often as possible with Scott, her husband, gardening, cooking, spending time with her friends, playing with her dogs Codie, Mitch, Tissa, and reading about French/francophone history and literature.

Amy Thompson(B.A., French and Journalism major, 2001) is the new owner and manager of Amaryllis Beauty Lounge, the only beauty lounge in Birmingham.

Heather White(B.A., French major, 1997) received a Master's Degree in International Health and Epidemiology at UAB and worked in Burkina Faso, West Africa, with the American Peace Corps. She is now back in Birmingham, and currently works at UAB, helping with research.

Selma ZukicKominek(B.A., French major, 2003) is in medical school. She worked on a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology in the UAB School of Public Health after finishing her undergraduate degree at UAB. She and Eddie have two Afghan Hounds which they take to dog shows.
