Madrid Congress
UAB Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures Hosts International Literature Conference in Madrid.
In July 9-12, 2004, in Madrid, Spain, the UAB Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures co-hosted the III Congreso Internacional – Madrid en la literatura española, iberoamericana y universal (III International Congress – Madrid in Spanish, Latin American and World Literature) with the Asociación Hispánica de Humanidades. The event was co-directed by Hispanists Dr. Sheri Spaine Long, Chair of the UAB Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, and Dr. Enrique Ruiz-Fornells, Emeritus Professor of the Department of Romance Languages, University of Alabama. Francisco Carriscondo at UAB
Franscisco Carriscondo, Ph.D., noted for his achievements in Spanish linguistics and poetry, was UAB's Jemison Visiting Professor for Spring 2004. Carriscondo's appointment was in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. Carriscondo is a professor of Spanish linguistics at the University of Málaga, Spain. While at UAB, he will teach an advanced Spanish course in the Department of Foreign Languages. He also presented a poetry reading and a lecture.
