Alternate Senator to the UAB Faculty Senate

Job Description

1. Serves as Alternate Senator for the academic unit to the UAB Faculty Senate from June 1 through May 31 [2 year term] (C IV.4, B I.2)

2. Attends meetings of the Faculty Senate at the request of a Senator in the academic unit who is unable to attend a meeting ; has voice and vote when serving for a Senator (B I.3.e, Appendix B -SR 4)

3. Encouraged to attend all meetings of the Faculty Senate which are held on the second Tuesday of each month from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Administration Building; has voice when recognized by Chair; votes only when serving for an absent Senator (Appendix B - SR 1-2)

4. Participates with at least one of the standing committees of the Faculty Senate (C IV.6)

5. Represents the constituents in the academic unit during Faculty Senate deliberations at the request of a Senator in the academic unit who is unable to attend a meeting (C IV.6)

6. Solicits input from constituents in the academic unit (C IV.6)

7. Serves as part of the nominating process for the represented academic unit for elected positions on the Faculty Senate and the Faculty Policies and Procedures Committee (B III.4)
