Senate Representative to University Committee

for the UAB Faculty Senate

Job Description

1. Serves as Senate Representative to the University Committee for the UAB Faculty Senate from June 1[time of President appointment and notification to Chair of the University Committee] through May 31 [1 year term]

2. Serves on the University Committee from date of letter of appointment from President to the Chair of the specific University Committee [usually completed by July 30] through May 31 [1 year term]

3. Represents the Faculty Senate at meetings of the university committee and presents views of the Faculty Senate as appropriate (B II.1.c)

4. Reports to the Chair and the Executive Committee about committee meetings and topics related to issues before for the university committee (B II.1.f) and reports to the Senate after Chair and Executive Committee review/determined by the nature of the topic/issue under review

5. Reviews the minutes and/or reports of the university committee and notifies the Chair and the Faculty Senate Executive Committee about items of interest or concern to Faculty

6. Prepares an annual report in April for presentation at the May Senate meeting; report includes meetings attended during the year, topics discussed and actions by committee, makes recommendations to enhance the role of the Senate with the university committee and the issues of concern and about any future topics or concerns that the Senate should pursue with the specific university committee
