Senator to the UAB Faculty Senate

Job Description

1. Serves as Senator for the academic unit on the UAB Faculty Senate from June 1 through May 31 [2 year term] (C IV.4, B I.2)

2. Attends all meetings of the Faculty Senate which are held on the second Tuesday of each month from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Administration Building (Appendix B -SR 1-2)

3. Ensures representation for the academic unit by arranging for an Alternate Senator to attend Faculty Senate meetings when unable to attend a meeting (B I.3.e, B I.10.b, B IV.1, Appendix B - SR 3)

4. Participates with at least one of the standing committees of the Faculty Senate (C IV.6)

5. Communicates Faculty Senate matters to constituents in the represented academic unit

6. Solicits input from constituents in the represented academic unit for use in Faculty Senate deliberations (C IV.6)

7. Represents the constituents in the academic unit in Faculty Senate deliberations (C IV.6)

8. Serves as part of the nominating process for the represented academic unit for elected positions on the Faculty Senate and the Faculty Policies and Procedures Committee (B III.4)
