Dr. Garrison reviewed the first iteration of the visioning/planning presentation that will be refined for future meetings which include the Faculty Senate [2/11/03], as well as Town Hall meetings planned for the faculty [ASC-2/11/03 (3:30-5pm)], students [HUC-2/18/03 (12:00-1:30pm)] and the medical faculty/doctors [Spain Auditorium-2/20/03 (7-8:30am)].
The development process has included interviews, focus groups, questionnaires and reviews of previous plans/reports. A committee comprised of 12 individuals from the faculty, staff, and students attended a planning retreat designed to guide the planning process and to refine the university's vision and mission. At the retreat, five goals were established: undergraduate education, graduate/professional education, research/scholarship, service to community/state and community/financial support. Every goal was defined with specific objectives and a scorecard for tracking results.
She also stated that a dedicated website has been created to follow the development of this plan/process and allow individuals to provide feedback. Dr. Garrison noted that the visioning/planning process is a "work in progress" and solicited recommendations from the FSEC. Members of the FSEC were complimentary of the format and hard work that had already occurred. FSEC members recommended the following modifications to the presentation:
