Its major goal is to advise and consult with administration on the opinions and concerns of faculty. Some of its working guidelines are that senate agendas are for the whole faculty or a significant number of faculty not just a personal agenda or an agenda for one group, many issues need to be evaluated in one of the standing committees before being brought to the senate floor, and the focus is on policy and general issues not personal issues.
