UAB Graduate Career Awareness and Trends (GCAT)

Graduate Career Awareness and Trends (GCAT), formerly Industry Roundtable, has been in existence for more than 15 years and prides itself in being the first organization of its kind in the nation. GCAT is a student-directed organization, which is dedicated to fostering a greater awareness of career opportunities that exist in science for current graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.

We accomplish our mission by hosting a monthly seminar highlighting careers for scientists outside academia. GCAT periodically hosts professional development seminars as well as an annual Career Development workshop. The Workshop is a full day event that includes speakers from nonacademic sectors including biotech companies, pharmaceutical companies, patent law, and government agencies as well as from academia including UAB and local small colleges.

We are sponsored by the Comprehensive Arthritis Musculoskeletal and Autoimmunity Center, the UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center, the UAB Graduate School, UAB Graduate Student Association, and the UAB Center for Clinical and Translational Science.
