How We Define Global, Community, and Leadership Print E-mail

Where passion meets action…

Leadership is more than a specific set of skills.  First, leaders must know and understand themselves – what they care about most: their values and their goals in life.  Second, a leader must be driven by passion directed towards a larger purpose.  This passion fuels a leader’s curiosity for greater understanding and maintains this drive through adversity.

Then leaders must also possess knowledge about the issue on which they wish to lead.  Such knowledge requires lifelong learning and exploration.  And finally,  a leader must combine knowledge and passion together to bring about change.

GCL Honors students develop their personal leadership through a series of leadership courses and self-reflections . Part of the overall GCL curriculum, these classes include Honors Academy Leadership classes taken with other Honors Academy students, as well as GCL-specific leadership courses.

The structure of leadership courses provides a systematic way for GCL students to develop knowledge and skills and to apply it within a community context.
