Vision:  Through the Global and Community Leadership Honors Program, students combine their academic interests and personal passion to be transformational leaders for the 21st century.

 

Mission: In the Global and Community Leadership Honors Program a student investigates, analyzes, and addresses the challenges and concerns confronted by societies around the world. Students become leaders as they actively explore and personally experience social, political, economic and cultural systems, as well as their consequences, in local, national, or international environments.

 

Goals for students:

  • To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of global and community issues

A. Students develop information literacy skills to gather, evaluate, and use information.

B. Students exhibit integrative learning, by making connections within a major, between fields, between curriculum and co-curriculum, or between academic knowledge and practice.

  • To apply appropriate dispositions within the context of community environments.

A. Students demonstrate dispositions of persistence, creativity, curiosity, self-reflection, and self-directed learning. 

B. Students demonstrate ethical, legal, and culturally-sensitive behavior.

  • To demonstrate leadership related to identified needs in appropriate contexts

A. Students demonstrate communication skills, including active listening and oral and written communication abilities

B. Students demonstrate interpersonal group skills, including consensus building, collaboration, and flexibility.

C. Students demonstrate the skills of problem identification and problem solving.

D. Students contribute in practical ways to the community and society.
