Gifts to the Global and Community Leadership Honors Program further the Program’s mission to provide a premier educational experience that inspires and empowers students to be transformational leaders for the 21st century.

Why Give?

Students in the program receive a more intensive, innovative, and interdisciplinary education than is available in the regular curriculum.  Faculty mentoring, specially designed courses, service-learning opportunities, and international and community learning experiences prepare students to take leadership roles in addressing local, national, and global issues—including food insecurity, homelessness, aging and end of life concerns, geopolitics and international relations, environment and biodiversity, poverty, education, urban planning, and social justice, among many others.

Gifts to the program are used to provide transformational educational opportunities and scholarships that are vital to the learning process and leadership cultivation.

Transformational Learning Opportunities

Of primary concern for students emerging as global and community leaders is the hands-on experience and application of classroom learning to community settings.  The program is continually expanding its reach into the community through placing students in internships, service-learning courses, and international and domestic study-away experiences. These unique educational opportunities afford students who wish to reach beyond their own backyards with valuable new experiences and personal growth.  Gifts help fund study away experiences; internships with civic and nonprofit organizations; hands-on service-learning experiences; and travel and lodging expenses associated with attending and presenting research at conferences throughout the region and nation.

Scholarships

Given the current economic climate, scholarship support is especially crucial to the success of our students.  Scholarships enable students to continue their educational pursuits without the additional burden of financial obligations or the need to work multiple jobs while enrolled in classes.  Giving to support scholarships is an investment in the education of future generations of students who will be the leaders of tomorrow.
