Research Interests

I am developing an adenovirus with specific tropism for the dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra pars compacta; the region undergoing degeneration during Parkinson's disease (PD). Once validated, this vector will be utilized for two primary purposes: 1) production of a physiologically relevant model of PD, overexpressing the protein alpha-synuclein, and 2) investigating the efficacy of novel therapeutics for the treatment of PD.
