THE KIRKLIN CLINIC

The Kirklin Clinic (TKC), a $130 million outpatient facility and one of the largest ambulatory patient care centers in the United States, opened in June, 1992. It is owned and administered by the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation which encompasses the private practice arm of the physician faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The Kirklin Clinic is a 5-story, 454,00 square foot building that consolidates the majority of the adult outpatient medical facilities at the UAB Medical Center and is located adjacent to University Hospital. It is named in honor of former Chairman of the Department of Surgery and renowned cardiac surgeon, Dr. John W. Kirklin. Over 1400 patients are seen each day in the clinics.

This outpatient facility has the most up-to-date diagnostic resources such as CT scanner, PET-CT scanners, MRI, nuclear medicine, EUS, pharmacy, and parking for 1450 cars. All Multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Oncology Center doctor appointments and most treatment visits are held in The Kirklin Clinic.
